Kalpakkam is mostly famous for its nuclear plants, this includes Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS). IndianMaritime University (IMU), the first maritime university in India located in Uthandi, ECR. Another attraction is proposal for Chennai-Cuddalore railway line along ECR. Extension of current 2 lane ECR to 4 lane is also proposed.
